dc.description.abstract The leaves of the ferns Asplenium nidus L., Asplenium adiantum nigrum L., and Aspidium biserratum Sw. contains secondary metabolites of flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, tannins, and phenols. Phenolic compounds are the largest secondary metabolites in plants. The benefits of phenolic compounds are as antioxidants and their ability to prevent various diseases such as cancer, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and anti-diabetic. The purpose of this study was to compare the total phenolic content of the ethanol extracts of the leaves of the ferns Asplenium nidus L., Asplenium adiantum nigrum L., and Aspidium biserratum Sw. by UV-Vis spectrophotometry method. The research conducted was non-experimental research. The objects studied were the total phenolic content of the ethanol extract of the leaves of the ferns Asplenium nidus L., Asplenium adiantum nigrum L., and Aspidium biserratum Sw. The research phase included plant determination, sample collection, simplicia processing, extract preparation, water content determination, extract phytochemical screening, and phenol content determination using the UV-Vis spectrophotometry method using Folin Ciaocalteau reagent. Total phenol content is expressed in units of mg GAE (gallic acid equivalent)/g extract. The data analysis used in this study used statistics using the one way ANOVA program in the form of the results of testing the total phenolic ethanol extract of the ferns Asplenium nidus L., Asplenium adiantum-ningrum L., and Aspidium biserratum Sw.
