Selutui puka leaves (Tabernaemontana macrocarpa Jack.) is one of the plants used by the community as a medicinal plant to treat various diseases. Selutui puka leaves contain alkaloid compounds, flavonoids, tannins, saponins and steroids that have antibacterial activity. Staphylococcus epidermidis is one of the bacteria that causes skin infections, these bacteria cause inflammation and become acne bumps. This study aims to determine the extract of selutui puka leaves has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis. The research conducted is experimental research. The research phase includes sampling, determination of selutui puka leaf plants, making simplisia, making selutui puka leaf extract and testing antibacterial activity using the well diffusion method using selutui puka leaf extract concentrations of 2.5%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 25%, 35%, 45%, 55%, 65%, and 75%. The data were statistically analyzed with Anova/Kruskal Wallis and presented in tabular form. The inhibitory zone results obtained at concentrations of 2.5%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 25%, 35%, 45%, 55% in the weak category ( 5 mm) while at concentrations of 65% and 75% in the medium category with an average inhibitory zone of 5.20 mm and 5.30 mm. In the positive control ciprofloxacin was 27.86 mm with a very strong category. |
